October Newsletter: An Impactful Domestic Violence Awareness Month
October marked Domestic Violence Awareness Month (DVAM), a time to raise awareness and reaffirm our collective responsibility to end domestic violence and abuse. Meaningful progress requires action across every level of society, from workplaces and sporting communities to public policy and the systems survivors rely on for safety and support.
This month, we’ve continued our work to advance conversations on safety and equip communities with the tools and resources they need to drive change. Here’s a closer look at what we’ve been working on this DVAM and how you can stay involved in the months ahead:
Building Safer Workplaces: Join us on November 3 for the Global Business Summit
Workplaces have a critical role to play in recognizing, responding to, and preventing domestic abuse. Tomorrow, November 3, we’re proud to join the Employers’ Initiative on Domestic Abuse to present the Global Business Summit: Taking Action on Domestic Abuse. This day-long virtual event is bringing together business leaders and experts from around the world to share the policies and practices helping organizations foster cultures of safety and support.

Football Against Violence: Connecting Africa and Brazil
Sport has the power to shape culture and bring communities together. As part of our initiatives ahead of the 2027 Women’s World Cup, we’re excited to partner with Stilistics Sportainment to host the first session of their Africa x Brazil Conversations series.

This special session, Football Against Violence: Protecting Women and Girls, will bring together sports leaders from Africa and Brazil to explore how football’s influence, visibility, and cultural reach can help challenge harmful behaviors and contribute to preventing gender-based violence worldwide.
Join us on November 10 at 10 AM BRT/1 PM GMT for this impactful conversation.

Making Digital Spaces Safer for Survivors at the SVRI Forum
This October, we were proud to attend the 2026 SVRI Forum in Bangkok, joining organizations, researchers, and advocates from around the world working to advance approaches to prevent violence and support survivors.
Our Director of Operations, Lyndsey Dearlove, presented a poster on Enhancing Digital Safety: Improving Access to Tech-Savvy Support for Survivors, highlighting the importance of whole-systems approaches in meeting survivors’ needs. We’re grateful to the global community working together to turn their knowledge and experience into practical, meaningful improvements in survivors’ lives.
