This month’s headlines have once again brought issues of sexual violence and accountability into the spotlight. The sentencing of Harvey Weinstein and a lawsuit involving allegations of rape at Cornell University are not just reminders that accountability for abuse matters to survivors and the far-spanning communities around them, but also of the importance of everything that happens before a crisis ever reaches a courtroom. 

As we marked Suicide Prevention Month, we were reminded of the importance of connection, support, and creating environments where people feel safe asking for help. Prevention means building cultures, systems, and relationships where abuse is less likely to happen in the first place, and where communities have the tools and support to act when something isn’t right. 

That’s the work we’re continuing to build with partners around the world. Here’s what that has looked like this month:

Peace Starts at Home

To mark the International Day of Peace, we partnered with 29-7 Agency to spotlight the kinds of conflict that too often takes place behind closed doors and remains hidden. 

We all have a role in creating a world without violence. Peace begins in our homes and relationships, in the ways we communicate, care for one another, and create environments where people feel safe. 

Every Survivor Deserves a Safe Vote

Ahead of the 2026 U.S. midterm elections, we were proud to share our newly updated Safe Voting Guide for Survivors on National Voter Registration Day. 

For survivors of stalking and abuse, voting can raise important concerns about privacy and safety. Our guide brings together state-by-state information on Address Confidentiality Programs, early voting, and vote-by-mail options, helping survivors understand the choices available to them and make a voting plan that prioritizes their safety.

Abuse is Everyone’s Business: Join the Global Business Summit on November 3

On Tuesday, November 3, we’re joining the Employers’ Initiative on Domestic Abuse to bring together employers, advocates, experts, and professionals from around the world for the first Global Business Summit: Taking Action on Domestic Abuse.

This free virtual Summit will explore practical approaches businesses and employers can take to create safer, more supportive workplaces and respond effectively when domestic abuse affects their teams.

We invite our network to share details of the Summit with colleagues, HR teams, and company leadership so more workplaces can become part of the solution to abuse.

Driving Prevention Through Sport

This month, we continued our work to prevent gender-based violence through sport by joining our partners at the NFL and OAB/RJ for The Impact of Women in Sports, a special event in Rio bringing together leaders from sport, government, and civil society. Held ahead of the NFL Rio game, the convening celebrated our long-lasting partnership with the NFL and looked ahead to how sports platforms can be a vehicle for lasting cultural change and prevention.

We were also honored to appear at the Women’s International Football Summit, where NO MORE Brazil’s Executive Director spoke as part of our ongoing partnership with Confut. Through conversations like these, we’re proud to be part of conversations shaping a safer, more equitable future through sport.

Strengthening Systems Across the Americas

This month, we continued our partnership with the Inter-American Development Bank, delivering trainings across Latin America focused on gender equality and strengthening the knowledge and capacity needed to create lasting change. We also continued our engagement with regional institutions through the Organization of American States, where our Global Director of Operations Lyndsey Dearlove was invited to speak at the High-Level Event: Towards the Effective Implementation of the Inter-American Model Law to Prevent, Punish, and Eradicate Gender-Based Digital Violence Against Women.
