Voting Resources for Survivors and Allies
The laws, funding, and services that affect survivors of domestic and sexual violence are shaped by the people who take part in civic life, including everyone who votes, as well as everyone who advocates for policy between elections. Survivors and the people who care about them have a vital stake in those decisions, and their participation can make a real difference.
NO MORE has created two guides to support that participation. The first helps survivors register and vote safely, with information on the privacy protections available in each state. The second is for anyone who wants to get involved in informed advocacy, from researching the issues and candidates to contacting representatives and pushing for change in their community.
Voting Safely: A Guide for Survivors
In most states, voter registration records, including addresses, are public. For survivors who have relocated, who are staying in a shelter or temporary housing, or are experiencing stalking, that can make voting feel like a choice between safety or having a say.
The good news is that protections exist, including Address Confidentiality Programs and alternate ways to register and vote.
This guide is designed to help survivors and their loved ones navigate the voting process safely and confidently. It provides information on each state's programs and options that can help protect survivors' privacy and ensure their voices are heard.

Beyond the Ballot: A Guide to Advocating for Legislation and Policy Change
Election Day is one moment in a much longer process. Decisions about shelter funding, legal protections, and prevention education are made throughout the year, in legislatures, city councils, and school boards. The people making those decisions are accountable to their constituents, which is why advocacy is so important even beyond elections.
This guide is designed to support anyone who wants to help make a difference, from making informed choices at the ballot box to advocating for change between elections.
