Uniting to End Violence Against Women on EVAW Day 2025: Save the Date for Nov. 25th!
Violence against women and girls remains a pervasive human rights violation worldwide, affecting women across nations, cultures, and communities. The breadth and severity of gender-based violence is far-reaching, manifesting not only as physical and sexual violence but also psychological abuse, coercion, and systematic discrimination. Today, it is estimated that one in three women globally experience some form of gender-based violence in their lifetime, underscoring the urgent need for awareness, action, and support.
This year, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women (EVAW Day) and 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence come at an especially poignant moment. As gender-based violence escalates in the face of increasing economic uncertainty, online misogyny, global conflict, and climate change, we have witnessed the large-scale degradation of support services due to funding restrictions, budget cuts, and policy shifts.
Earlier this year, we launched a global survey to hear from frontline service providers directly impacted by these challenges. Our findings revealed alarming precarity: 97% of U.S.-based organizations reliant on state or federal funding feared service disruption, and 80% had already experienced impacts to their service delivery. Core programs such as shelters, prevention initiatives, advocacy, and other services supporting survivors of gender-based violence are now under extreme strain.
To mark the importance of this date and the urgency of collective action, we are proud to host the second annual EVAW Day Global Broadcast, presented in partnership with the Centre for Public Impact. Audiences will be able to tune in on November 25th for a landmark day featuring impactful stories, expert panels, and inspiring performances centered around mobilizing action to end violence against women and girls.
As part of the special event, we are launching the EVAW Day Relief Fund, dedicated to providing critical assistance to charities providing lifesaving support services that have lost funding in 2025. We’re asking individuals and organizations to give the Relief Fund a head start by making even a $5 during October for Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Every contribution can help create safer futures for women affected by violence and contribute to sustainable change in their communities.
Together, through awareness, education, and collective action, we can drive real change. We invite everyone to watch the broadcast, engage with the campaign, and consider supporting the Relief Fund today.
Mark your calendars for November 25th, and stand with us as we strive to build a world free from gender-based violence.
